“I bridge the gap between the nightlife and the politicians. I am not talking about the commercial nightlife scene, but about creative industries where proactive, open-minded and forward-thinking people gather and develop their talents. People that just start organizing free open airs, they start running club nights, or they take they camera and go out into the night to take pictures. Maybe in the end they find themselves having a daytime job being a photographer, a filmmaker, a party promoter or maybe a DJ, VJ or a life musician. It is bottom up, totally bottom up! By having this direct dialog with the politicians and the mayor of Amsterdam, we can change these rules of the game! We create opportunities for young creative kids to do whatever they like, and to use the city in the way they find fit. It is about free open airs in Amsterdam – it is about reclaiming the streets.”

Mirik Milan har været ”natteborgmester” i Amsterdam siden 2012. Nachtburgemeester Amsterdam er en non-profit organisation, der arbejder for skabe et dynamisk natteliv i den hollandske hovedstad.
